EMCDDA. The misuse of benzodiazepines among high-risk opioid users in Europe
Benzodiazepines are a widely prescribed group of medicines with a range of clinical uses that include treating anxiety, insomnia and managing alcohol withdrawal. This group of medicines is often misused by high-risk opioid users, and this is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. This paper describes the impact of benzodiazepines misuse on the health and treatment of high-risk opioid users. (EMCDDA, Lissabon, 07.06.2018)
