Ukraine's HIV prevention supplies hit in Russian strike
On July 19, Russian bombs destroyed a warehouse containing vital prevention supplies. Agencies are now working urgently to shore up Ukraine's HIV prevention efforts.
Health authorities and HIV groups in Ukraine are working to ensure prevention services for almost 300 000 people can continue next year after a warehouse in the Kyiv region holding more than 62 million condoms, lubricants, syringes, and other medical goods was destroyed during Russian bombing. Organisations running prevention services said most of the stock for Ukraine's 2027 programmes had been destroyed in the attack on July 19. (Lancet, 24.07.2026)
