What is Cychlorphine? Forensic center finds new opioid in East Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — During 2025, the Knox County Regional Forensic Center identified a new synthetic opioid in three East Tennessee counties. While limited information is available on the new substance, here is what is known about N-Propionitrile Chlorphine, which been known by the name cychlorphine.
According to the forensic center, nine cases involving N-Propionitrile Chlorphine were identified in November and December of 2025. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also confirmed to 6 News that it first encountered the synthetic opioid in late 2025. (News on your side, USA, 14.01.2026)
