EUDA initial report on the new psychoactive substance spirochlorphine
Introduction
8-[1-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethyl]-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decan-4-one, commonly known as spirochlorphine, is a spirotriazole and a synthetic opioid belonging to the orphine opioids, a group of related new synthetic opioids. It is monitored by the EUDA as a new psychoactive substance through the European Union Early Warning System. Based on potential public health risks, an initial report has been prepared and submitted to the Commission and the Member States, in accordance with Article 9 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1322. Its purpose is to provide scientific evidence to the Commission to allow it to make an informed decision regarding whether or not there is a need to request a risk assessment on a new psychoactive substance.
