The 6th volume of our Signals Report centers on current drug use trends during the “Fourth Wave” of America’s overdose epidemic, in which stimulants are increasingly co-involved in fentanyl overdose deaths. We analyzed urine drug test results from more than 4 million patients across the 11 years since fentanyl first emerged as a major driver of overdose in the U.S. to illustrate the changing nature of polysubstance use among people who use fentanyl.
