HIV and Women's Health Issues

Summary

Women living with HIV who take HIV medicine (called antiretroviral therapy or ART) exactly as prescribed and get and keep an undetectable viral load can live long and healthy lives and will not transmit HIV to their HIV-negative partners through sex.

Gynecological problems are common among women living with HIV, but it is recommended to talk to your health care team about treatment options that are right for you.

Women living with HIV have a higher risk of cervical cancer, and it is important that they be regularly screened. (hiv gov, USA, aufgerufen am 19.03.2026)
