Schottland. Evaluation of minimum unit pricing

Schottland. Evaluation of minimum unit pricing

MUP evaluation overview

The Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Act 2012 states that all alcohol sold through licensed premises in Scotland cannot be sold below a set minimum unit price (MUP). Following a legal challenge and a vote in the Scottish Parliament, MUP was implemented on the 1 May 2018. MUP depends on the amount of alcohol contained in the product and is currently set at 50p per unit of alcohol (ppu).

The Scottish Government has tasked NHS Health Scotland with leading an independent evaluation of MUP. Here you can find information on why this is needed and how we will be doing it. (NHS – National Health Service Scotland, 30.04.2018)
