USA. CDC: Overdose Deaths Leveled Off in 2022, Still Setting New Record
The United States recorded 107,941 drug overdose deaths in 2022, according to final data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As expected, the figure represents the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period—but it’s also the first time in years that the annual mortality rate has plateaued, rather than continuing to rise sharply.
